Moonlight Ridge

Moonlight Ridge traverses the Southern Ranges of Tasmania, which are close to the Southern coastline. The major peaks along the Southern Ranges are Mount La Perouse, Pindars Peak and Precipitous Bluff, which give commanding views over the South Coast Track and the Southern Ocean.

The hike is a 6 day in and return trip from Ida Bay to Pindars Peak. We cross high country, sidle past highland tarns and climb numerous peaks along the way.

This walk best suits the experienced walker with a good level of fitness. The Southern Ranges are exposed and walkers must be prepared for all weather conditions.

We always hope for favorable weather and with this confidence we have coincided our walks to depart around the full moon.

Bus transfers from your motel and back to Hobart, all food and drinks, accommodation on the walk, National Park passes, 2 friendly and knowledgeable guides, beautiful scenery and wildlife, fun, small groups.

Things you should know

At the booking stage you will receive from us a gear list of what to bring. You must bring all the items on the gear list as the weather in Tasmania can be changeable.

You will be required to fill out a Travel Profile informing us of your dietary requirements and medical conditions, as well as sign an activity indemnity waiver. We reserve the right to alter, delay or cancel a tour due to extreme weather conditions, bushfires or sudden track closures.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Canceling the tour up to 6 weeks prior, a full refund less a 10% booking fee will be refunded. From 6 weeks to 3 weeks prior a 50% refund will be given. Up to 3 weeks prior to the tour no refund will be given. If you wish to transfer your booking to another date this can be done up to 6 weeks prior only. Please note the 10% booking fee is 10% of the tour price.

Should a participant/guest need to leave a tour once it has commenced, due to a medical emergency or any other reason, no refund, partial or in full, will be given.

Tasmanian Hikes reserves the right to vary or postpone a tour due to unsafe conditions such as severe weather, floods, bush fires or sudden track closures.
